Biography

I began my career in photography towards the end of 1997, throwing myself in at the deep end as an in-house assistant at a large studio complex in North London. Although the work was quite full-on it was a great place to see the workings of photo shoots and to learn about lighting and other equiptment first hand. It was also a great place to meet photographers some of whom I ended up working with after my time at the studio. These included Tom Sheehan, Hamish Brown, Mitch Ikeda, Ross Halfin and Scarlet Page. While assisting during the day, I would be shooting gigs at night, blagging my way into venues around London, always trying to gain access to the most exciting bands. I started to develop some good techniques and soon found my own style. My first commision was shooting the then unknown Travis for a student magazine and shortly after leaving the studio I got taken on at Kerrang! magazine as one of their freelancers to whom I still regularly contribute. More recently I've worked on press shoots for new and established bands as well as commisions for album artwork. Most of what I shoot is music based as this is what I love the most and my plan is to document all my work on this site. This will take a while and I will be adding new photos all the time, so please keep coming back. I hope you enjoy my site! Nick |
